MORE than 100 students from Perins School in Alresford pitted their wits in the Junior UK Maths Trust Challenge.
It proved to be the school's most successful year to date, with about 50 per cent of candidates achieving a certificate. Eleven obtained gold, 20 got silver and 24 were awarded bronze.
Pupils were given a wide range of questions in a different context from normal curriculum work to stretch their ability as mathematicians.
