RICHARD BLAND gave himself a timely boost on the eve of his return to the European Challenge Tour when he shared victory with Jonathan Barnes in the Portsmouth Lord Mayor's Charity pro-am at Crookhorn.
The Stoneham tournament pro has been working hard to overturn a slump in form and he looked in good shape when shooting a two under par 67 to tie last year's county order of merit winner Barnes at the top of the leaderboard.
One shot further back came Dibden's Kevin Saunders and the promising young Romsey assistant James Pitcher.
Home professional Justin Sandler and his team of Nick Roadnight, Jonty Stead and Tony Blackley won the Pro-Am with a 14-under 125, one shot better than Barnes' team of Tim Atkins, Dave Rees and Chris Castle.
Bland played in the Danish Open last weekend and after just squeezing through the cut finished in a tie for 30th place with a four over par total.
