Andover (200 for 7) beat OTs & Romsey (136 ao) - reduced target OTR lost their third successive match despite chasing a reduced target in a rain affected match at Andover last Saturday.
Losing the toss and fielding first OTR did the hard work again, as in the previous matches, restricting the home side to 120 for 4 in the first 40 overs. Ex OTR brothers Mark and Roger Miller, scoring 27 and 25 respectively, along with Toby Radford (31) and R Atkins (25), all got starts but could not go on.
It was left to Steve Williams (49no) to take Andover to 200 off 50 overs. Phil Wyatt (4 for 43) and Max Smith (2 for 34) were the leading wicket takers and Jeremy Ord was his usual miserly self.
The target was reduced to 176 in 44 overs after a rain interruption. OTR started brightly, but then shot themselves in the foot with both openers running themselves out. New Zealander Scott Shirley (30), along with Max Smith (28) and Henry Lamb (18), took the attack to Andover, but like the home batsmen got themselves out looking to attack on the slow wicket.
OTR finished on 136, 40 runs short of the revised target.
Southern Electric Cup OTR v Sparsholt
OTR beat Sparsholt in a thriller at the Norman Edwards Memorial Ground. The home side got off to a flying start with former Hampshire player James Schofield (54) leading the way, but Faisal Iqbal (3 for 23) pegged them back at the death, restricting Sparsholt to 120 off 20 overs.
OTR started slowly and looked to be in trouble midway through their innings - until Stuart Tulk (35no) came to the crease. A reverse swept four off his first ball seemed to give
OTR the impetus they needed and with the help of Paul Longland (29) he saw them home with three balls to spare.
