AN ANDOVER woman is to attempt the strenuous 'Coast to Coast' walk in the north of England in a bid to raise money in memory of a dead friend.
If Carol Croft, who lives in Gallaghers Mead and works at the Defence Logistics Organisation in Andover, completes the 190 miles from St Bees Head in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay near Scarborough, she will raise more than a £1,000 for St Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough.
She is joining her friend Helen Cooper whose husband Paul died from cancer in the hospice last September.
Helen is hoping to raise in excess of £8,000.
Paul had pledged that he was going to undertake the walk if he recovered sufficiently in recognition of the help he received at the hospice.
Unfortunately it was not possible.
Carol said: "The walk is expected to take 13 days and we will be staying at bed and breakfast accommodation along the way. We have paid for the cost of the accommodation so any sponsorship money is going directly to the hospice."
Anyone who would like to sponsor her should contact Carol on 01264 382711.
Carol and Helen begin their walk on Monday, 7 June.
