A SAUSAGE created by reporter Dick Bellringer at Dairy Barn Farm Shop in Houghton has, amazingly, turned out to be something of a hit with customers.
Dick was invited to the shop by butcher Mike Alexander to try his hand at making some bangers in March.
During his visit Dick made what he dubbed Bellringer's Spring Sausage and Mike made up a batch for customers to try. Mike said: "People obviously tried them the first time because of the article, but then they started coming back for more."
They sold out of the bangers at a Hampshire Farmers' Market in Winchester and now Mike regularly makes up a batch every other week. Bellringer's Spring Sausage is a meaty, course cut, pork banger flavoured with black pepper, sage and sorrel.
The Dairy Barn Farm Shop will be holding its open day tomorrow featuring sports presenter Dickie Davies.
