Ryde v Longparish THE Barker, Son and Isherwood team made the long journey to Ryde on the Isle of Wight and came away empty handed after being in control.
They fell at the final hurdle and the old cliche of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory was an admirable definition of their performance.
Batting first on a very hard track the home side made 204-5 from their 45 overs, A Gillett top scoring with 58.
Longparish did well to contain Ryde to a getable score but in reply lost an early wicket with 11 on the board.
