WEYBROOK Park's Andrew Cloke led the qualifiers for this year's Hampshire PGA Matchplay Championship at Hartley Wintney Golf Club.
Cloke was joined by Eddie Raw-lings in shooting a two-under-par round of 69 at Hartley Wintney to book his place in the ERIF-sponsored knock-out competition next Monday and Tuesday.
His reward is a last-16 clash against Sandford Springs' Jon Barnes in the quest to succeed Russell Tate as champion.
All but one of the 15 qualifiers matched or bettered par, with La Moye's Mike Deeley (72) taking the final place after a birdie at the first extra hole of his sudden-death play-off with Dibden's Ben Johnson.
Cloke and Barnes are the first pair out at 8.30am next Monday.
The full draw is: Cloke v Barnes; James Pitcher (Romsey) v Eddie Rawlings (ER Golf Schools); Kevin Saunders (Dibden) v Rob Edwards (Lee-on-the-Solent); Mike Deeley v Simon Hill (Blackmoor); Richard Adams (South Winchester) v Russell Tate (East Horton); Nick Smith (Dunwood Manor) v Jason Neve (Cams Hall); Steve Cowle (Blacknest) v Neil Bratley (Wellow); Mark Treleaven (Hayling) v David Porter (East Horton).
James Rodger won the Hockley Ladies' mixed pro-am with a five-under-par round of 66 at Hockley Golf Club.
Rodger, of Golf Academy, took advantage of excellent scoring conditions to win by two shots from Treleaven and home professional Gary Stubbington.
Cloke shared fourth place with Wesley Byatt (Tournerbury) after shooting a 69.
Last-minute replacement Tim Spence (Sweetwoods Park) took full advantage of his opportunity to win the Cams Hall Estates Golf Club pro-am with a five-under-par round of 66. One shot behind were Philip Bryden (Tournerbury), Saunders and Barnes.
Bruce Parker (Brokenhurst Manor), Simon Pink (Marriott Meon Valley), Cloke and David Porter (East Horton) shared fifth place with 69s.
Cloke's team of Vic Grant, Jason Turner and Paul Terry took victory in the pro-am with a 17-under-par score of 125, one shot clear of home professional Jason Neve and his team.
Tomorrow's Hampshire PGA pro-am at Tylney Hall has been cancelled because of course construction work.
