A HAMPSHIRE charity for young people had a much-needed cash boost thanks to an opening of a new supermarket.
The Rock Solid Youth Project based in Valley Park, Chandler's Ford, received £500 from the community's new Tesco Express store after borough councillor Alan Dowden cut the ribbon to mark the grand opening.
Supermarket manager Maxine Sergeant put up the £500 to go to a charity of Councillor Dowden's choice.
The Rock Solid Youth Project works in conjunction with local neighbourhood wardens, parish councils and youth councils to provide a valuable drop-in service for eight to 17-year-olds.
Project volunteer Jim Bird was thrilled with the store's donation: "This will play a valuable part in the project and I would like to thank them for their support."
Manager Maxine Sergeant, said: "The Rock Solid Community is central to the community here and we are pleased to be able to offer our support."
