WITH only around a month to go before the second Andover Festival Weekend on 26 and 27 June, the organisers Andover Lions Club are confident the event will be bigger, more successful and even more enjoyable than last year.

The carnival entries in both the vehicle and pedestrian categories are well ahead compared to this time last year.

But there's still plenty of room for more - so look out for entry form in the Andover Advertiser or phone Dave Burrows on Andover 366779. While entrants are naturally keeping details of their creations a close secret, it's believed that the theme, 'Books - Fact and Fiction' will encourage a wide variety of entries reflecting many different interests.

The carnival procession will follow the same route as last year with vehicle entries starting from East Portway and the pedestrian entries joining at Beech Hurst.

Adding to the colour and spectacle there will be static bands along the route and marching bands in the procession.

Leading the procession on Saturday 26 June will be the newly-crowned Carnival Prince and Princess, Aidan Bainbridge and Charlie-Jade Smith with their attendants Eleanor Coles and Grace Upton.

The carnival procession will end at the Walworth Sports Ground where Walls Festival Funfair will again be offering family fun and entertainment until late into the night.

Sunday 27 June brings the dawn of the Andover Show, once again hosting a feast of fabulous attractions. By popular demand these will include the return of the hilarious 'It's A Knock-Out' competition won last year by a team from the DLO.

If anyone wants to enter a team (of eight to 10 people) into the 'Knock-Out' competition there are still a few places left. Phone Fred Harper on Andover 889660.
