FOR many jobseekers, an interview is one of the most daunting experiences they will ever have to face.
A successful interview technique is absolutely vital if you want to impress and get that sought-after job.
This is why Kelly Services has produced a new guide, providing Basingstoke jobseekers with sound advice to increase their chances of interview success.
Before producing the guide, Kelly conducted a poll of all 120 of its UK branch managers to ask them what they felt were the most important factors to increased interview success.
The managers, who are on the frontline of the jobs market and involved in placing more than 20,000 temporary staff in work every week, highlighted two key factors in interview success - enthusiasm and personality.
They felt that, while preparation and skills are important in improving your interview chances, employers really want people who will fit in with their existing teams.
Kelly's Interview Success Guide builds on the branch managers' experience to offer helpful advice over a number of different areas, including essential homework, handling difficult questions, on-the-day advice, dos and don'ts, and following-up.
Lisa Cobb, branch manager at Kelly Services in Basingstoke, said: "Interviews can be a nerve-wracking experience but knowing you are well prepared will calm your nerves and allow your personality to shine through.
"One key tip I always give applicants is that they should have a few questions of their own to ask.
Many employers come back and tell me that the applicant didn't ask anything about the job, apart from the salary, and this definitely didn't help their chances of success."
So if you want to hone up your interview skills, why not pop along to Kelly's Basingstoke branch and collect a copy of the Interview Success Guide?
