Pompey have completed the signing of Newcastle defender Andy Griffin.
Former Stoke right back Griffin, 25, has signed a four-year deal after completing his free transfer from Newcastle, who he joined from Stoke for £1.5m six years ago.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp said: "I've liked Andy for some time. He has been affected by the competition for places at Newcastle. He had time out with injury and it's always going to be hard to get back in a side of Newcastle's calibre on a regular basis.
"He's a good solid back and can push forward."
Griffin, who made his professional debut at Fratton Park for Stoke when he was 17, said: "I'm good friends with Lomana Lua Lua and he was on the phone to me saying what a fantastic place this was and how terrific the players are."
Griffin made 90 appearances for Newcastle and scored three goals during his six years at St James's Park.
