A Fareham mother has scooped a £1m prize on a National Lottery scratchcard.

Sharon Hall, a 37-year-old Royal Navy sailor, hit the jackpot when she bought the £1 card from Dillons One Stop in White Hart Lane, Portchester.

The Bullion scratchcard came up trumps for the master-at-arms, who lives in Fareham with her 40-year-old fabricator husband, John, and children Christopher and Charlotte.

Sharon bought the card on the way to taking Christopher, six, to play football. She discovered she'd scooped £1m as she scratched the card while the soccer game was going on.

The family now plan to splash out on a new home, a car, a holiday in Florida, and John will have a season ticket for West Ham United.

''This win means we can now buy the house of our dreams. I would really love a swimming pool and John wants a full-sized snooker table,'' said Sharon.

"I cannot describe how overjoyed we are. We feel this is going to change out lives and means we can really secure our children's future.''

She has been in the navy for 18 years and was celebrating today on Nelson's flagship HMS Victory at Portsmouth Naval Base.

Lottery operator Camelot spokesman Vicky Bartlett said: "She's a pretty lucky lady.

"It's not that often that we see a win like this on scratchcards as there's not many that offer the chance to win a million.

The Bullion scratchcard, which has four games on each card, is one of only a handful which offer a £1m prize. Each batch will make five people millionaires.

This is the second armed forces lottery win this month.

A syndicate of 12 from the Ministry of Defence in Abbey Wood, Bristol won a £1,920,042 share of the Lotto jackpot on Saturday May 15.
