New Milton sprang one of the biggest ECB Cockspur Cup shocks of the season by knocking out near neighbours Bashley (Rydal) in a nerve jangling third-round finish.

The Southern Electric Premier League Division 3 minnows won by three runs to clinch a plum home tie against Havant in the zone semi-final at Fernhill on Sunday week.

BAT Sports are also through to the regional last four after a nervous 13-run win at Farnham.

David Wheeler (38), Ryan Beck (35) and Iain Griffiths (26) top scored as New Milton posted a handy 194 all out against Bashley.

With the bounce becoming increasingly lower and Ryan Beck proving extremely difficult to get away, Bashley were always going to be pressed to reach the target.

Shaun Lilley (29) and Neil Thurgood (28) took the Bashley reply to 84-4, while Richard Knowles (36), Andy Neal (23) and Neil Sexton (24) steadied the ship

But an asking rate of six runs a over eventually proved too much for Bashley, who closed on 191-8 (Lee Beck 3-57) having required 11 runs off Griffiths' final over.

Semi-final opponents Havant thrashed the Andover attack for a massive 349-4 at Havant Park with Andy Perry hitting a career-best 172 and Paul Gover (107) his second century of the weekend.

They shared a 247-run opening partnership, which yielded a six and 38 fours.

Andover were never in the hunt, closing at 187-9, Ian Gardner (40), Roger Miller (34) and Mike Adams (33) top scoring.

Nigel Bungay spared BAT's batting blushes at Farnham and set up a much-needed 13-run win over the Castle Lager Surrey Championship side.

For the second successive day, BAT's batting folded with one-time Hampshire 2nd XI spinner Simon Massey (3-29) reducing the SPL champions to 55-6.

But Bungay (76), aided by James Legodi (22) and Terry Rawlins, lifted BAT's spirits and the total to 186.

Farnham dropped to 47-4 and later 95-7 - Ricky Rawlins (3-11) and Legodi (2-18) doing the damage - but rallied to reach 173-9 with former Oxford University captain Tom Hicks (92) threatening to upset BAT's celebrations.

BAT will entertain the winners of next Monday's third round tie between Falkland and Corsham at Southern Gardens on June 6.
