A NEW exhibition is due to be unveiled in Gosport today to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-Day.
The Blunt End focuses not just on the military side of 1944's operations Overlord and Neptune but the preparations for them.
Explosion! museum of naval firepower, in Priddy's Hard, is the location for the exhibition and a venue that also played a vital role ahead of D-Day.
Civilian workers spent long hours preparing ammunition and loading the supply vessels there, which then fed the Royal Navy's guns ready to bombard enemy coastal batteries.
Today's highlight will be a visit by HMS Medusa at 2pm, an 80ft harbour defence launch, which served on D-Day as a beacon for the invasion force.
