NOT many 60-year-old grandmothers from obscure islands off the African coast can claim to have sold millions of albums and won a Grammy Award.
Cesaria Evora is used to confounding expectations, though. One of the few world music artists to have won a mainstream following, the soulful singer boasts influences ranging from African, Brazilian and Cuban rhythms to the "fado" singers of Portugal.
