HUNDREDS of families enjoyed superb weather at a New Forest school's May Fair.

Parents, pupils and teachers at Marchwood Junior School were involved in a wealth of activities from watching performing clowns to clambering around fire engines and ambulances.

It is a fun-packed social calendar this year for the Twiggs Lane school, which will also celebrate 150 years since being built.

The most popular event of the May Fair was Walk the Plank, in which children rolled a giant dice three times for the opportunity to plunge a grown-up in freezing cold water.

Mike Mintram, vice-chairman of the Parent Teacher Association, was among the adults to receive a succession of soakings.

He said: "I've lost count of the number of times I've had to walk the plank. The driest part of my body is my tongue."

All money raised will go towards buying an interactive whiteboard to go with two boards purchased with money raised at last year's May Fair.
