ONLY weeks after expanding into Newbury, Totally Tennis make another huge step by taking a programme to Eastleigh.

This week, more than 600 school-children in the south Hampshire town will be trying tennis for the first time as the Totally Tennis Trail visits schools in the area.

Five schools in the town will be treated to a roadshow designed to encourage children to take up the sport.

Afterwards, Totally Tennis will deliver a free six-week tennis coaching programme to each school.

Vouchers worth more than £2,000 will then be distributed so that every child taking part is encouraged to continue playing tennis.

News is also confirmed that Totally Tennis and Fleming Park Leisure Centre have teamed up in a joint venture in Eastleigh.

From June 7, a programme at Fleming Park will provide tennis opportunities right up to juniors at national level and adults.

Totally Tennis coach Daniel Fowkes, who will head the new tennis programme at Fleming Park, said: "We are delighted to bring our tennis trail to Eastleigh. It is a fantastic opportunity for all the schools involved, offering the children a taste of tennis, encouraging them to play sport and have a healthy lifestyle."

Nicky Harding of Fleming Park Leisure Centre said: " We are very excited about the new Totally Tennis programme at Fleming Park.

"The success of the Totally Tennis programme elsewhere has proved that children want to be actively involved in sport and are not always given the opportunity. The partnership with Fleming Park and Totally Tennis is set to change all that."
