THEY'VE done it! After 120 years of obscurity, Winchester City have won the FA Vase at only their second attempt.
By lifting the cup yesterday, City are the first club from Hampshire to win a national football competition since Saints won the FA Cup in 1976.
Last night some 3,000 City fans returned home after an afternoon of glory in Birmingham, when the team beat AFC Sudbury 2-0 with goals by Andy Forbes and Shaun Dyke. Hundreds of fans held an impromptu party with the players and officials, and staged a fireworks display at the Denplan ground in Abbotts Barton.
The achievement will be officially recognised with a civic reception at Abbey House hosted by the deputy mayor, Cecily Sutton.
