BROADSTONE'S Gary Emerson hauled himself back up the leaderboard with a 71 during yesterday's final round of the BMW Asian Open held in Shanghai.
After shooting a third-round 74, which had him in reverse, the 40-year-old earned a cheque for more than 13,000 euros with a solid closing 18 of -1 for 20th place.
Having dropped a shot at the 570-yard par five ninth he quickly hit back with birdies at the tenth and 12th holes before parring in.
However, the Englishman still lies only 143rd on the Volvo Order of Merit and will need some high finishes - as well as invites to play - if he is to move into the top 115 and earn his card for next season.
Miguel Angel Jimenez won the event after making light work of Simon Dyson's six-shot overnight lead. The Spaniard shot a five-under-par final round of 67 to finish on -14 and comfortably overhaul Dyson, who endured a torrid time on his way to a 76.
Stoneham's Alan Mew finished tied 19th after yesterday's final round of the Italian Seniors Open. Rounds of 75, 72 and 73 earned him just under 2,00 euros.
