THE sale of a period cottage was set to be sealed this week by best and final offers, after 28 potential buyers crossed the common land at Hazeley Heath to view the unmodernised gem.
The Odiham office of Lane Fox brought The Dingle (pictured) to the market for renovation or knocking down to make way for a larger home.
Even before the midweek deadline for best and final offers, the agents were holding eight bids after advertising the cottage with a price guide of £450,000.
The Dingle has an outstanding semi-rural location near the village of Hartley Wintney, where once it over-looked the now-abandoned Hazeley Heath cricket pitch.
It is a property that has been virtually in a time warp for more than 60 years while it was lived in by the same tenant.
The family now selling bought the house in 1919 - just after the end of the First World War. It is set in an acre of grounds that include a paddock.
The current cottage has two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.
The ground floor has a dining hall, with a kitchen and sitting room to either side and another bathroom.
The brochure for The Dingle was prepared when spring daffodils were in full bloom.
