HAPPY Oakley! In a recent Government survey of more than 32,000 communities, Oakley was rated the third most desirable place to live after Chorleywood West and Crowthorne.

Many different facets of life were considered, including public services, health, crime rates and unemployment.

JUMBLE sale: Tomorrow, at 2pm, in East Oakley Village Hall, there will be a sale to raise funds for the Oakley Scouts and Guides premises committee.

BEATING the Bounds: this is the 12th year that the old tradition of Beating the Bounds will be carried out on Rogation Sunday (this Sunday).

Everyone is welcome to join in the walk, which will be about five-and-a-half miles around some of the boundaries of Deane and Oakley.

Please meet in the overflow car park of the Deane Gate Inn at 2pm on Sunday. Dogs are welcome if well behaved and kept on a lead.

SCOPE for a bargain! Next Saturday, May 22, at 2pm, the charity Scope is holding a jumble sale in East Oakley Village Hall.

Tea will be available and there will also be a raffle and tombola.
