THE famous Balding family provided the entertainment as horse racing fans poured into their Kimpton Down stables for a first look around the new facilities.
Proving it was a real family affair, Toby Balding asked his BBC broadcaster niece Clare to open proceedings and greet the 1,400 visitors with a welcome speech.
Spectators were then able to view a parade of past champion horses - including gold cup winner Cool Ground and hurdle winners Beech Road and Morley Street.
Kimpton-based horse whisperer Gary Witheford gave the crowds a chance to see his skills.
All money raised on the gate will go towards the Greatwood Rehabilitation Centre for Retired Racehorses.
The day was heralded an outstanding success by Carolyn Balding, who said she was grateful for the support the family has received in undertaking their new venture.
"We were terribly grateful for everyone who showed their interest in the stables and we thought the open day was a nice way to commemorate the new buildings in this beautiful setting," she said.
