Hampshire constabulary's reputation as a "green" force continues to grow with the acquisition of a fuel-efficient patrol car.
The Honda Civic issued to the Central Hampshire Basic Command Unit is fitted with a new petrol-electric system known as Integrated Motor Assist.
The eco-friendly system works in tandem with a petrol engine to offer optimum performance, with reduced fuel consumption and emissions.
It is the first Honda IMA vehicle purchased by the constabulary and ,over the next three years of operational use, its performance and environmental impact will be monitored.
Superintendent Bob Rose, commanding officer for Central Hampshire, said: "As the car is environmentally friendly, it is not only better for the community, but the officers who use it.
"The fact that it requires less servicing means it will be at the police station longer."
