LORD Wandsworth College offers pupils "a very good all-round education in a mutually supportive community", according to inspectors.
The findings were made by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, which visited the north Hampshire-based school for one week in February.
The inspectors' report, published this week, praised the Long Sutton college's "very good" examination results, the "excellent" relationships between staff and pupils and the "outstanding opportunities" that are provided for pupils to develop their sporting talents.
Headmaster Ian Power said he was "delighted" with the inspectors' findings.
He added: "It is marvellous to learn that we have earned such all-round praise in this report.
"I am particularly glad for my colleagues, who work so hard in and out of the classroom to make Lord Wandsworth College such a special place.
"That the inspectors should specially identify the dedicated work of houseparents, tutors and matrons, who provide 'the full and caring pastoral arrangements for both boarding and day pupils', is confirmation of all that we strive to do.
"We will address the recommendations made in the report and strive to continue to deliver the excellent education that the inspectors have recognised in this report.
"It is a great start to the summer term for all of us."
The inspectorate carries out inspections of independent schools every six years, according to a standard framework, which has been agreed with the Department of Education and OFSTED.
It ensures that standards are maintained and schools comply with relevant legal requirements.
