THE multi-award winning war on terror drama Pugilist Specialist is showing at New Greenham Arts on Saturday, May 29, at 8pm.
A timely dissection of the American military's hunt for evil in foreign lands, it begins as an elite squad of US Marines are called for a briefing on a top secret black-op.
Assembled is the trigger-happy sniper Lieutenant Freud, the darkly dispassionate, calculating explosives expert (and the only woman on the team), Lieutenant Stein, and the emotionless Lieutenant Studdard (communications).
In command is Colonel Johns, the only man who knows that the Middle Eastern dictator, codenamed The Bearded Lady, is not the real target.
Known for their biting, satirical drama, The Riot Group's previous productions, Victory at the Dirt Palace and Wreck the Airline Barrier were awarded Fringe First Awards.
Pugilist Specialist was given the coveted First of the Firsts - essentially branding it the best new production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2003.
Written by Adriano Shaplin, who also plays Lieutenant Freud, the show also received a Herald Angel Award.
For tickets, priced £11 (discounts £9, under-25s £5), contact The Corn Exchange on 01635 522733 or book at www.cornexchangenew.com
