SOUTHAMPTON Cycle Speedway Club extended their unbeaten run at their Winchester Road track to five wins with a 105-74 triumph over Welsh visitors Newport.

The two sides also contested a junior challenge fixture that Southampton won 66-64.

Nine of the 13 heats were shared and the score going into the final heat was 60-60.

The final race was a nominated heat and Saints fielded 14-year-olds Tom Colling and Paul Janaway, who were first and third respectively to give their side victory.

Saints: Tom Colling 20 (5), Paul Janaway 16 (5), Rick Fagon 12+1 (4), Matt Grinsell 10+2 (4), Matthew Williams 3 (3), Richard Hayes 3 (3), Tom Harding 2 (2).
