RICHARD Kenway struck a career-best 153 as BAT Sports rattled up a massive 283-4 in their eventual 180-run ECB Cockspur Cup win over Ventnor at Southern Gardens.
The beefy Botley roofer hit three sixes and 12 fours, dominating separate century partnerships with David Banks (53) and Archie Norris (35) as Ventnor's young, inexperienced attack was carved to shreds.
Only Martin Blackman (28) and Lee Brown (18) got into double figures as Ventnor were rushed out for 103 - Graham Noble taking 4-24 and Roy Peters and James Legodi two wickets each.
BAT could face Alton in the next round - but last year's undefeated Southern Electric Premir League, Division 3 champions will have to win Sunday's weather-delayed tie at Farnham.
Havant pulled off the result of the round, beating much fancied Basingstoke & North Hants by two wickets in front of their own followers at May's Bounty.
Evergreen left-arm spinner Phil Loat (4-15) ripped the heart out of the Basingstoke innings after Lee Nurse (36) and Julian Wood (20) had eased the Home Counties Premier League club to 73-1.
Teenager Mitchell Stokes (46) hit back, but Simon James (3-43) and Richard Hindley (2-20) took vital wickets to reduce Basingstoke to 146 all out.
Havant responded with a useful start between Paul Gover (31) and Andy Perry (20), but after three wicket spells by John Govett (3-20) and Stokes (3-13) lurched to 117-7.
But Havant edged ever closer to the target, with Loat's unbeaten 15 sealing a thrilling victory of the penultimate ball.
In the third round, Havant will play Andover, who received a walkover against Premier League leaders Portsmouth, who were unable to raise a side.
New Milton's competition debut continues to go apace with a 33-run win over Weymouth.
Opener Ryan Beck (66) led the way and was supported by Iain Griffiths (31), Lee Beck (39) and young Dan Adlem (28 not out) as Milton posted a formidable 230-7.
Losing a wicket in Ryan Beck's opening over, Weymouth struggled to 58-3 off 20 overs and were eventually dismissed for 197, Doug Bellchamber (3-48), Nick Gargaro (2-23) and Griffiths (2-2) doing the damage.
New Milton host the winers of Sunday's rain delayd tie between Bashley (Rydal) and South Wilts in round three on May 23.
