MORE than £2,800 was raised for cancer research by students from the University of Southampton during a sponsored row.
The 30 students who took part are all members of the university boat club. They rowed in shifts of one hour each non-stop for 48 hours at the university's Highfield campus.
Boat club member Lawrence Grabau, 19, said: "We have got the skills and we have got the fitness so we thought there was no reason why we shouldn't put them to use.
"The sponsored row was great for the boat club's profile within the university and great for the university's profile in Southampton. Cancer Research UK gave us tremendous support and everyone was a winner really."
