Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric is believed to have lined up former Belgium national manager Georges Leekens to replace Harry Redknapp at Fratton Park.

Mandaric flew out to Brussells last night and is believed to be ready to give 55-year-old Leekens the job of Pompey boss with Redknapp widely tipped to leave after two years as manager.

Redknapp is ready to walk out, despite having two years to run on his contract, following Mandaric's reported decision to sack Jim Smith.

Mandaric has denied reports that the club are to part company with coaches Smith and Kevin Bond, however. Reports suggested the pair, assistant coach and first-team coach respectively, would leave Pompey after their final Premiership game of the season against Middlesbrough and that Redknapp would quit.

But Mandaric insisted that, although there are plans for a "reorganisation" of the club in the summer, no specific changes have yet been made.

"I spoke to Harry about what we can do better in the future, and all of a sudden, less than 24 hours later, everyone in the whole country is talking about Jim Smith and Kevin Bond being fired. I'm sorry, I just don't understand that,'' he said.

"We have to sit down and talk about the reorganisation of the club. I have tremendous respect for Jim Smith but I have to look at what is best, not for me or Jim Smith, but for the club.''

Asked if Smith's departure was already certain, Mandaric responded: "Absolutely not."
