NATIONAL Women's Register: "Topic in a Hat" was the theme for the meeting on April 15. There was a good attendance, and the topics drawn from the hat were well debated.
On May 20, the group will meet at 7.30pm in the cricket pavilion at The Clift Meadow, for a talk by a member of the Community First Responders - an organisation that helps the ambulance service in an emergency. This is an open meeting and all are welcome. For details, contact 850642.
ANNUAL parish meeting: There was very poor attendance at the meeting on April 23. Cllr John Ferguson, chairman, introduced representatives of Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey UK, who spoke about the German Road development.
To comply with Government policy, planning permission will be applied for about 250 housing units, some of which will be high-density small units. Small industrial units and a nursing home will be included in the plan.
Questions were asked and parishioner Bob Livesey made a serious objection that there will be no public enquiry allowed on the plan.
There were reports from the chairman, representatives of The Clift Meadow Trust and the school governors, which I will include next week.
