IT'S a tough job but somebody's got to do it. Saints striker James Beattie has been chosen to judge the Miss Southampton 2004 competition, which takes place later this month.
Organisers have announced proceeds from this year's event will help people living with cancer.
All money raised will go towards the £1m Macmillan Cancer Relief Appeal for South Hampshire to fund a cancer information and support centre at Southampton General Hospital.
Saints star James kicked off the competition build-up with help from Southampton mayor Parvin Damani, ModelHub director Amie Cooper and Macmillan Cancer Relief appeal manager Connie McConachie.
Miss Southampton 2004 will take place at Jumpin' Jaks nightclub in Leisure World, Southampton, on May 21, with the competition winner going on to represent the city at Miss England 2004 in July.
