FORMER Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow is to star in a production of Chicago at The Mayflower, later this year.
The acclaimed West End musical will be staged from September 28 to October 9.
Marti will be joined on stage by some of the country's most talented dancers in this much-loved musical about murder, corruption and adultery in 1920s America.
Pellow will play slick lawyer Billy Flynn in the musical, which tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who kills her lover.
When she meets the sharp lawyer he turns her fame into showbiz success as a jailbird showgirl.
The musical is currently more popular than ever thanks to the Oscar winning hit film version in 2002 starring Richard Gere and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
With Wet Wet Wet Marti notched up 12 top ten singles including Love Is All Around from the film Four Weddings And A Funeral.
Talking about his part he said: "Billy is a sensual character, quite pivotal to the show."
The show, based on Maurine Dallas Watkins' play, has won numerous awards including the 1998 Olivier for outstanding musical production.
