THE QUEEN paid a private visit to Exbury Gardens in the New Forest this weekend.

Her Majesty toured the famous 200 acres of woodland gardens at the personal invitation of her friend Leopold de Rothschild, whose family has owned the Hampshire estate since 1919.

As part if her visit, the Queen took a tour of the gardens at the stately home in a shiny blue miniature steam engine, one of the big attractions of the gardens during the summer.

The engine, adorned with two Union flags, took Her Majesty on a one and a quarter mile tour of the estate on Saturday.

After viewing the impressive gardens the Queen also took time to meet with staff.
