STONEHAM'S Alan Mew got lost in France over the weekend and plummeted down the leaderboard of the latest Seniors Tour event, having led on Friday after a first-round 68.
Mew's weekend rounds of 78 and 77 saw him firmly in reverse at the Senior French Open, held at the Omaha Beach Golf Club, and a disappointing tie for 33rd was the result.
Catastrophic front nines were to blame on both days, scores of 42 (Saturday) and 43 (yesterday) including five double bogeys.
Frustratingly, level-par halves of 36 would have put the Trinidad & Tobago player on course to challenge for victory. However, the 52-year-old had to be content with a cheque for just over 1,200 euros and 49th place on the order of merit.
Bob Cameron took the title after a superb final round 67, earning the Englishman almost £20,000.
