DVLA's 54 series personalised registrations were released into the public arena for the first time last weekend.
These give motorists the opportunity to play with a vast range of letter combinations to find their perfect plate, before they go on sale on June 1.
From this date, more than eight million registrations from the entire 54 series will be available for one month only and, from July 1, DVLA will continue to offer in excess of 1.6 million attractive combinations in anticipation of the their on-the-road date of September 1.
As with all the current style registrations, customers will be able to choose the first two and last three letters of their registration (subject to availability). Prices start from £499.
Louise Pierpoint, spokeswoman for the DVLA, said: "The May pre-sale period will give motorists a great opportunity to explore a number of different options before they make the commitment to buy a personalised registration, and with the knowledge it will not be snapped up before June 1."
For those who prefer a more traditional approach to personalising their vehicle, an additional seven million prefix style registrations are available from £250.
