AFTER two years of hard work the Whitchurch Jubilee Memorial in the town's cemetery was officially unveiled at the weekend.
Basingstoke and Deane Mayor Mrs Gwen Richardson, Basingstoke Bishop the Right Rev Trevor Willmot and MP Sir George Young joined residents as the memorial was unveiled by the artist Steve Eggleton and seat designer Brian Jackman.
The memorial was designed using the theme of reflection. The design points towards the north, south, east and west to reflect the vastness of the world and the walls are in the shape of a cross to reflects God's love.
The feature was positioned on the highest point of ground with corner seats provided to enable visitors to to sit and reflect.
Mayor Barry Jackman, who originally thought of the idea, said: "It has been two years hard work but I have enjoyed it.
"The local people have been so generous."
