INVESTIGATIONS into installing CCTV into Overton village centre is being carried out by Overton Parish Councillors.
The council is considering putting CCTV in the Community Centre to act as a deterrent against youngsters bad behaviour and to make people feel safer.
However, the council is looking for residents' feedback to help them decide whether this would be a benefit to the village.
So far the council has received quotes of £3,200 to £5,400 to install the cameras and between £330 and £1,560 to maintain and service them.
Laura Harley, parish clerk said: "The parish council is interested in hearing about how confident CCTV would make people feel in the village and if there are any other areas in the village that would benefit from CCTV."
Weighing up the pros and cons the council is taking the costs into consideration.
Mrs Harley said there are grants available to install the equipment from the borough council and local authority.
"However, there will be an on-going maintenance cost and the cost of any damage which would have to be met by Overton Association," she added.
Villagers who have views about this proposal need to contact the parish office on 01256 771919.
