THE New Forest phase has begun of a UK-wide consultation exercise to boost the health of the nation.
The project, called Choosing Health, was launched by Health Secretary John Reid in February. He unveiled details of how the massive questionnaire would improve the nation's health and well-being. The scheme follows a government report into ways to secure better health for the whole population.
New Forest residents will be asked their views on the best way to tackle problems such as obesity, smoking and sexually transmitted diseases.
They will also be asked for ideas on food labelling, advertising, making workplaces healthier, and how to encourage more people to exercise.
Bob Coates, director of public health at New Forest Primary Care Trust, said: "All these health issues are being discussed regularly in the media.
"We want to find out what people think and are keen to receive as many responses as possible from local residents to help us measure what they regard as key public health priorities."
