PREPARATIONS are in full swing for what organisers predict will be the largest ever Navy-run charity event in Hampshire.
HMS Sultan, near Fareham, is gearing up to host its annual summer show, which this year aims to smash the £30,000 it raised for local and national charities last time.
Aerobatic displays, Wild West horsemen, a circus, steam fair and sheepdog displays are just some of the attractions promoters expect will draw 30,000-strong crowds from as far away as Wales.
Co-organiser Lieutenant Kirsten Johnston, from the Military Road base, said: "This year's show will be bigger than ever and provide enormous fun for visitors."
All the profits from this year's event on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, will be divided between various charities. Personnel at the base have chosen to support The Rowans Hospice palliative care centre, in Waterlooville.
Businesses wishing to contribute to the show should contact Lt Johnston on 07974 910571.
