A HUSBAND and wife garage team from Soberton have become the latest regular users of the A32 to call for changes to the hazardous road.
Alan and Mavis Jones, who run MJ Motorsport Garage Services from their home in the village, are increasingly worried about the road, which has claimed three lives in the past year.
Their calls come as a 64-year-old man continues to fight for his life today after being involved in an accident on Sunday night on another stretch of the road at Hoads Hill near Wickham.
The man, who has not been named by police, was driving his Renault 19 when he was in collision with a Ford Fiesta travelling in the opposite direction on Sunday afternoon.
He was rushed to Queen Alexandra hopsital in Cosham where doctors today described his condition as critical.
The 34-year-old female driver of the other car was also taken to hospital but later released.
The Jones's concerns surround new measures at the Heath Road junction, which have included a junction realignment and narrowing of the road.
But highways chiefs say the measures have improved visibility at the treacherous junction. Mr Jones, 65, who has lived in the area since he was five, said: "It's an accident waiting to happen. I really don't think they should have done it. It's the craziest thing they've ever done.
"I think they need to put in double white lines between the Roebuck and the Forest turning instead of doing anything else. Unless they do something about it, there's going to be a bad accident."
A Hampshire County Council spokeswoman said: "Road safety improvements at this junction were finished on March 24.
"This comprised of overgrown vegetation on banks being cut back 200m to improve visibility, a ghost island of white hatching being painted to visually narrow the junction and make drivers slow down and the realignment of the junction to make cars turn into it more slowly."
Highways chiefs are also working with police under the casualty reduction partnership to study the circumstances of the fatal accidents and see whether anything can be done to prevent similar accidents occurring.
Chris Mills, 31 was killed when the motorbike he was riding struck a car at the Heath Road junction of the road in December.
Student Vicky Waters, 18, was killed at the nearby Bishop's Wood Road junction when her car was in collision with a coach earlier this month.
