THREE new high-profile patrons are pledging their support for the Southampton based Ribbons HIV Support Centre.
Actor Mark McGann and his wife, Caroline Guinness, are pledging their support, along with the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Parvin Damani.
Caroline, who recently went public about her own HIV status and is a founding member of "Positively Women", a national self-help group for HIV positive women, is committed to promoting the work of the centre to a wider audience.
Alongside her husband Mark McGann, who has starred in the TV drama Shackleton, Caroline is convinced that stigma and discrimination are major obstacles to effective HIV prevention and care. "By getting more people to understand this subject we can break down these barriers," says Ginny Cranshaw, Ribbons co-ordinator.
"I am delighted to have Councillor Damani, Caroline and Mark as patrons.
"Their support will help to promote the work of the centre to a far wider audience."
The Ribbons centre in Southampton provides a range of confidential services for people living with HIV and Aids and their family, partners and carers.
For further information contact Ginny Cranshaw, centre co-ordinator, on 023 8022 5511.
