TWO police officers have faced disciplinary action after a driver at the centre of a Hampshire road death escaped prosecution because of a blunder, the Daily Echo can reveal today.
Driver Nicholas Painter will never face court action for his part in the crash in which pedestrian Steven Cooper, 42, died.
Officers wanted to Painter to attend court on a charge of driving without due care and attention but they did not deliver the vital paperwork to the Crown Prosecution Service in time.
This meant no legal action could be taken against Mr Painter.
