BUTCHER Simon Broadribb survived a real roasting by celebrity chef Brian Turner when his roast beef was declared among the finest in England.
Simon, of Uptons Butchers in Bassett, impressed judges in the local heat of The English Beef and Lamb Executive's search for the best roast dinner.
His recipe - four parts roasted sirloin, chateaux potatoes, minted peas and queen carrots - proved to be the favourite dish of the TV chef, who was judging the competition at Langley's Bistro in Bedford Place, Southampton.
Mr Broadribb, who has scooped awards in the national Great Taste Awards for smoked back bacon, was presented with a cheque for £250 to be donated to his chosen charity, The Rose Road Association for disabled children.
