Paul Sales is virtually assured of the Dr Martens Eastern Division golden boot award after scoring twice for Eastleigh in their 2-1 home win over Folkestone Invicta last night.
The Southampton-based marksman now has 29 DML goals in his impressive collection, but may find himself axed by manager Paul Doswell for Saturday's trip to Tonbridge Angels.
Doswell laughed: "I'm desperate that Paul doesn't get to 30 goals because he's on a personal bonus from me if he does!
"I'm not going to say how much it is, but I might have to drop him for the next couple of games."
Sales sandwiched a goal in each half around a 43rd-minute Mark Munday reply for Folkestone.
"It was a top-notch game between two sides guaranteed Premier football next season and Doswell smiled: "I was really proud of my team tonight. They were all magnificent.
"The best bit was the chairman (Roger Sherwood) bringing in three bottles of champagne after the match and Christer Warren pouring a whole bottle over his head.
"I'm not sure Roger saw the funny side - he was soaked from head to foot."
