Mallory Park near Leicester was Easter Monday's venue for the first round of the BRSCC run Super Coupe Cup, with local driver Matt Speakman competing in his Ellis run Rover 216 Gti.
The Super Coupe Cup, a championship designed for one make saloon cars that no longer have manufacturer backing, incorporates various classes with Speakman keen to improve on last year's overall finishing position of second place in the Rover class.
With only 15 minutes for qualifying Ludgershall-based Speakman knew he had to put in a quick lap early on and with a clear track he drove to set a time securing him second place in class.
