Andover 2 Gosport Borough 0 Wessex League
WITH prize money in the Wessex League awarded down to sixth place both sides needed the three points to maintain their league positions.
Andover's need was the greater and results elsewhere presented the possibility of a position in the top five with a game left.
Before the start Glen Damen collected the fans' Player of the Year award for the second successive year.
However the vote was close and gave an indication of how well the team has performed this term.
Both sides had chances to take an early lead but it was Peter Kingman who forced Gosport keeper Mark Brown to go full length to save.
