Battling Blackfield & Langley were just ten minutes away from securing their place in the SWL next term but a late flurry of goals condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at nearby Brockenhurst.
"I'm absolutely gutted, with ten minutes to go the match had 0-0 written all over it," sighed Blackfield boss Tony Feeney.
"I thought that we dominated the first half with the wind and we did enough until late on when it all went pear-shaped - we just didn't do the right things defensively.
"Obviously next week's game at AFC Newbury is absolutely crucial now - we have a better goal difference than Whitchurch so we need to get a least a point," added Feeney.
Late strikes from Alan Wright and Keith Williams put the home side 2-0 up and, although Danny Mockeridge reduced the arrears for Blackfield, they were just unable to salvage what would have been a priceless point.
