TOTTONIANS took their foot off the pedal and paid the price with a 22-12 defeat at Weybridge.
Captain Miles Northover warned against coasting to the end of the season, but his side did just that and went through the motions against the second bottom Surrey club.
Only Paul Brading and Mark Amey managed to cross the struggling Vandals' line.
"It was a dull, scrappy game but it was just a game that, in earnest, we were not really up for and we just went through the motions knowing it was the end of the season," said Northover.
Totts finish seventh in London 3 in their first season.
Alton are just below them having been stung by play-off hopefuls Old Wimbledonians 34-17.
A try in the opening two minutes from prop Marcus Coffin against the windy conditions did not prevent Southampton from suffering a heavy 32-12 home defeat to Old Paulines which sank the city side to seventh in London Four South-West.
It was a constant struggle after that early score to get out of their own half as the Surrey side pinned them down and they only found a way through once after the break through Dave Griffiths.
"We just didn't turn the pressure into points," said Griffiths.
Romsey finished ninth, just a single point from the drop as US Portsmouth claimed a surprise 28-10 victory over KCS Old Boys, but the blue and golds were safe well before the visit of league champions Purley John Fisher.
Romsey's tough initiation to London League rugby was brought to an end in clinical fashion as they were trounced 53-9.
Romsey, weakened by late withdrawals, gave an impressive account of themselves especially through Graham Lusty in the centre and Justin Jeffrey in the back row while Tim Darby produced a fine performance at tighthead when called upon at short notice.
