Two Hampshire League titles were decided last Saturday when Colden Common clinched top spot in Division 1 and Mottisfont put themselves out of reach of the chasers in the second division.
Common's 4-1 victory over Verwood at Main Road capped an extraordinary four months for Dave Riddell, who only moved in as manager in January.
Some thought it would be a big jump coming from Upham in the North Hants League, but Riddell proved an inspired choice. His predecessor Steve Waters had got the former Hampshire League champions into a challenging position; Riddell in his own words took them a stage further by "making the players believe in themselves."
Next Saturday Common go in search of the double when they meet Bournemouth League Division 1 strugglers Southbourne in the final of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup at Southbourne.
They took possession of the Division 1 trophy with what Riddell described as "a disappointing performance from a football point of view," against Verwood.
James Atterbury, Dean Higgins and Richard Lang, pictured, scored before half-time and substitute Chris Sanger got the fourth during a scrappy second half.
Two late goals by Tim Richman gave Colden Common Reserves a 2-1 win at Liss and now they need only a point from their last home game to regain the Combination 1 championship.
Mottisfont marched to the Division 2 title in style, crushing their biggest rivals Romsey Town 5-1 in a suprisingly one-sided derbyclash.
Robbie Abbott and Al Bunday scored for Motts before Romsey could settle into their stride and although Greg King pulled one back, Michael Jackson (2) and Phil Hunt put the home side back in charge.
Winning the division is a great achievement by Mottisfont in their first season in the Hampshire League and manager Martin Thomas put it down to team spirit. "They're all good mates here and they pull together for each other," he said.
So the race is now on for second place and Hamble Club kept up their hopes with Ollie Forbes, Steve Baurk and Ian Proctor steering them a 3-1 home win over Yateley. Former leaders Netley Central Sports are still in the chase, too, after coming from behind to win 3-1 at QK Southampton thanks to two-goal Paul Myburgh and John Allen.
One of the Premier Division's longest serving managers Kev Parris called it a day after Locks Heath beat Brading 2-1 in the Premier Division. Parris has had over 20 years at Locks, 12 as a player, nine as a manager and summed up: "It's time for someone to come in from outside and bring in some new players."
Goals by John Stevens and Pete Lines helped Parris sign off with a win while at Lymington, Charlie Balfe and Paul Sims both signed off with goals as the Town beat Aldermaston 5-2.
Both players are joining Lymington & New Milton next term.
Right-back Jason Stride popped up with Town's other two goals.
