Newcastle United UEFA Cup semi-final draw with Marseilles brings back memories of when we played the French club in the European Cup-Winners' Cup and beat them 4-0 at The Dell.
It was not so clever out there, though, where we had to lie on the floor of the team bus leaving the Marseilles ground because we were being pelted with rocks.
Earlier a brick had come through the dressing room window and during the game an iron bar had flown over the perimeter fence, narrowly missing a linesman. And all because we'd had the temerity to score an away goal which put the tie out of their reach.
If Newcastle can emulate that result it would be a great contribution to Alan Shearer's career, which has produced a league winner's medal at Blackburn but no European success. Alan will almost certainly be among the favourites for Footballer of the Year after a tremendous season.
